Shoji Screen

This used to be a shoji screen with paper backing.  The previous owner discarded it curbside because of a hole in the paper. Apparently they decided it was not worth fixing. However, if you can think of another way to use an item, it becomes worthwhile again.

After taking off the paper backing, sanding, and spray painting black lacquer, this screen is now a place to hang a few pictures without damaging a wall. I like that it now lets more light in without hiding anything.

Office After

Premiere Home Stagers readily repurposes things when gathering items for staging. It’s what makes a home unique, comfortable, or memorable. So, think about what you may have around your house that can be repurposed with new fabric, new paint, or just used in a different way. Imagine how much longer our landfills will last.

Clever Disguise

One can find clever, inexpensive solutions to design dilemmas in unusual places.  Instead of removing this outside window in a  restaurant’s public restroom, it was disguised with a painting and then fitted with clear glass.  It gives the room something unexpected and  is more cheerful than the ordinary (sterile) bathroom surroundings.

Mirror Art

So why not carry the theme around the bathroom mirror as well!  Notice the paint colors are the opposite of the window.

And even though this window is on an inside wall and high  up on the wall, it too is deserving of artwork.

I love the colors of lime green and dark pink (or orange) together. If you need to tone down some pink in a girl’s room, add some green. The two colors are complementary. Sometimes it is just fun to have a space that has some unusual colors. A powder room, laundry room, or sunroom are places where people inhabit for a shorter time and thus can handle some bold color choices.

A Wordle

Libby and I (Gina) have lots of things to share, but  I was interested in finding out what other like-minded people put on their blogs. When I did some surfing, I found something that is quite creative.  It’s called a “wordle”.  It’s a creative way to display words in a unique manner.  Click to view our full-sized Wordle     Create your own wordle , or view many others .  It got me thinking how someone might use these. If you have an idea, please share.
